Downtown Trash

Last week I mentioned that I grew up during the 80s. Therefore,  it should come as no surprise that Downtown Trash, the first exhibition at the Waverly Art Gallery in New York City,  focusing on the cultural scene of Downtown New York in the 80s, would appeal to me.

The exhibition features photography by Christopher Makos and collage by Jean Patrick Icart-Pierre, among others. It is described as, “…collectively aimed to break apart the existing boundaries between the isolated atmosphere of high art and popular mass culture by directly undermining the social and political mores surrounding the two establishments.”

The exhibition is on view until December 7. If you live in New York or plan to visit soon, go check it out and then let me know what it was like!
